Brewmen @ Solaris Mont Kiara

BY Unknown IN , 1 comment

After having breakfast at MOC, we decide come to here and have some try of their coffee. They having some good reviews from customer, you can see they are put more effort on their café design.

Grey colour walls are full of lovely graffiti, while the other side of white walls fully decorated with paper drink carrier / drink holder

Tables and chairs are made from wood, look like they are emphasize on recycle concept.

They are mainly on coffee instead like a café offering main dish. But they do have some savoury with not much selection.

Queen Bee RM11
This is more on cold dip coffee. The ice will melt slowly and let the coffee taste become dilute.  If you drink immediately once they serve to you, you will taste the coffee is rich and strong aroma. But no worries if the coffee has become dilute, the taste still nice to drink.

Fizzy Red
This is not a coffee, it more like soda. This is specially made for people who don’t or can’t drink coffee when customers visit in their café. Not too sweet but taste good.

I like this kind of coffee shop which only serving coffee instead usual café serving food as well. Sometimes you just need a cup of coffee and don’t really need food when step into café. Then, here would be one of your options to sit back and have your coffee at any time without feel awkward because of not ordering food.

Can’t drink coffee? No worries, they do serve other types of drinks you could enjoy it.

Ministry of Coffee @ Solaris Mont Kiara

BY Unknown IN , 14 comments

This day, I have made my date with a blogger friend to try out this café and having our breakfast at the same time. The coffee they are used to serve customer is worth to talk about, because they are using Doi Chaang Coffee and this is very famous in Vietnam. If you would like to try out this coffee, come here and have yourself will be right then.

If you have no idea what type of coffee you would like to choose from, you may refer on the board where they have explain the quantity of espresso and milk for every each coffee. Besides, they offer specialty coffee as well where you can choose from press, syphon, water drip and so on.

To make my breakfast look good, I choose Latte as my drink of the day. Latte more on steam milk instead coffee, but you still can taste the coffee beans from Doi Chaang.
Café Latte RM11

Their menu only show out what each breakfast have offer in a plate, without any specialty name.
Truffled mushroom, ricotta, parmesan, poached eggs, brioche toast RM22

Corn fritters, beef bacon, double sausages, roasted potatoes with salsa sour cream finish RM21

For who is coffee lover, you must fall in love with the coffee maker stuff likes coffee machine, coffee cup, or plunger etc. They do selling some coffee maker stuff, you may have a look while have your cup of coffee around here.

There is not much decoration on the wall, only full with vary art picture hang on the wall. This has make some good features on the dark wall, not too exaggeration or monotonous.

Those mugs installed light bulb arranged neatly to illuminate the café. Not too dazzling but creative, has become the special part of the café.
I like the design of their café, the glass door is match with dark lines, make it looks like British café instead of Korean café. If you wish to sit back and relax, you may come over here have a cup of coffee and read your book without any crowded.

Naughty Babe Dirty Duck @ Bangsar

BY Unknown IN , 9 comments

Bangsar is a good place to hunter food and I mostly visit this area once a month before. I have no idea of this restaurant and never look at their signboard honestly. I think I will not pay my visit if my bff never ask for that.

The name has successfully caught my attention and reminds me another restaurant I visited before – Three Little Pigs and The Big Bad WolfIn addition of the specialty name, distinction theme and furnishing, good food is the most important for a restaurant in order to retain more customers.

Pigs and Ducks are the leading role in this restaurant. There is a lot of decoration for them.

The name has already told you they are serve naughty babe (pork) and dirty duck, sure our meal will pick for both. This meal actually is a farewell dinner before I am leaving to New Zealand. Oops! 🙈

Dirty Fries Basket RM10
The basket is mix with the sweet potato chip and potato chip. I love both so I decide to pick this, but it still not enough for me.

Hungarian Sausages RM18
They have few sausages you can choose and each served with mashed potato and sauerkraut. If you wondering about sauerkraut and I can tell you this are the way they usually eat the sausages in western country. But it will better if I can add some sauce like mustard or chilli on it!

Spaghetti Carbonara with Pork Bacon RM22
Alright, I’m a fan of Carbonara and I can’t help to order this every time. The spaghetti is toasted with bacon and cooked in NBDD’s cream sauce. The carbornara not cooked in creamy while a bit dry; probably because of this and I didn’t feel greasy.

Dirty Duck Linguine RM28
Sure we want to try out how was the taste for duck. The pasta sauteed with onion, garlic, basil and smoked duck breast slices. They are tossed with Truffle oil but for me still a bit dry yet. Honestly, I still loving the creamy sauce and oily fulfill my spaghetti. Hmm..

Chef’s picks is here!!
NBDD BBQ Pork Ribs Half Slab RM38/ Full Slab RM68
The pork ribs are signature from them, lacquered with their homemade barbecue sauce and come with two choice of dipping: Tomato salsa (sweet & sour) and Hot Stuff (relatively spicy). They are do their best grilled the pork ribs to the perfection as you can see the skin is slightly shinny and it really make us drool. However, Morganfield's pork ribs still my most favorite picks.

Grilled Chicken in Balinese Style RM28
Apart from pork and duck, they are serving chicken too. Whole spring chicken is grilled in traditional Balinese way, served with chips and salad. I am wondering how they could grill all the meat with shiny honey skin, and we can’t help of that.

They do serving alcohol beverages as well and become one of the pick for dinner place to most of the white and blue collar shirt. You will see a large group of friend or office worker love to have dinner party and some drinks at here after work.

I truly recommend this place. If you are around this area may pay a visit for dinner and have some drinks with friends. No worries if you are not at this place, they do have another branch at Hartamas but not sure the foods serve in same way and delicate.

Tips: Remember have a call for reservation advance because they are always fully seated especially Friday and Saturday night.

VCR Coffee & Cakes @ Jalan Galloway, Kuala Lumpur

BY Unknown IN , 13 comments

VCR is famous on their attractive glass window with the natural light glow inside the café has lead the nice environment for taking a good picture.

The café set up in an old building has become one of the features for them. They are one of the building paint in grey colour on the road to make it outstanding compare with other.

We choose to sit at upstairs because there is not much people seat upstairs instead downstairs is noisy.

Barista is friendly enough and he is giving well explain of hand brew coffee when we told him we are interested to having it.
Since the day we visit is weekday, the food is serving shortly after we order. Service is good.

Latte RM12

Filter Coffee - Aeropress RM15

Potato Waffle RM24
The name itself has attract my attention because I love potato so much! I never seen anywhere has make the waffle by potato but they are first, I guess.
The mushroom friccasse and herb salad are surrounds the waffle, come with eggs and tomato fondue on top. What to be mention they are emphasize used free range eggs and cooked in 63 Degree Celsius.

French Toast RM19
This is actually a sweet treat in my breakfast this early morning. They used fluffy brioche French toast topped with espresso based ice cream.
The interesting part on this plate shows on the left; fulfill some crumbles and seeds with mocha sauce at the bottom, and a spoonful berries compote perhaps.

Honestly, the food and coffee here just good and actually not really impressive me. The price is slightly high which is not really matching with the food it serves.
If you wish to have peaceful place to enjoy your food might go upstairs instead downstairs is noisy enough.
By the way, they are creative enough to mixed different flavour together on a plate and make it some interesting to your taste buds.
