Authentic France Coffee Experience @ Cafe Richards, SkyAvenue Genting Highlands

BY Cecilia Qianqian IN , , No comments

Before this, I did wrote a lot cafe review and my experience toward Malaysian cafe trend, I admit I'm seeking something I don't know blindly until I visit New Zealand for a year.
During my solo trip at New Zealand, I spend most of the time sitting in the coffee shop, enjoying a cup of black coffee and notes down my feeling along the way. It's like a scene only appear in movie and I really enjoy the moment.

From here, I found out it is not an easier to manage a very good coffee shop for last like Malaysia as well. Of course I'm not a coffee connoisseur, but passion of coffee is the key to manage a cafe successfully in F&B industry. Additionally the high acceptance of your mix beans.

I am very happy when Cafe Richards, France leading coffee roaster has chosen Malaysia as the first retail location bring genuine taste of France to us. As their mission is provide customer the genuine French cafe experience which authentic espresso, coffee and French food as well with classy Parisian-style atmosphere -- classic black and white mosaic floor tiles, cloth awnings and raffia wicker chairs.

Once you open their menu, you will see some description about manual brewing method to let customer more understand each characteristic. You may ask the barista for recommendation and explanation of the coffee beans selection if you have out of idea. All the staff and barista been trained to be like sommeliers of coffee, enabled to explains the difference of coffee beans as well as the suggestion of preparation method. And we witness this happen just simply ask one of staff come in front of us for explanation.

After some Q & A session and explanation from Michael McCauley, Cafe Richard's Master Roaster, he has recommend me Costa Rica Tarrazu with slow method - Syphon, something chemistry project as according my preference to brew the coffee. Syphon method produces a medium-bodied coffee to target customer like me who love rich flavour coffee.

Costa Rica Tarrazu in Syphon RM19 / RM21

Sumatra 'Orang Utan' Coffee in French Press RM19 / RM21
Undeniable french press is the most easiest and better way to discover the coffee selection. French press produce full-bodied coffee with rich flavour cup of coffee as I did brewed my coffee in this way at home because you actually get to finish brewing your coffee just at your tableside.

Chemex - something unique brewing method to produce pure aromatic coffee filtered by paper to removes coffee oil, with absolutely no bitterness.

Cold Drip - another chemistry project produces smooth and concentration coffee aroma by extract cold water with long hour. May come back for this to explore how well on this as I didn't found any place that can satisfy my tasting experience.

Cafe Richards do provide milk-based espresso like latte, frappe with reasonable price from RM15 to RM20 something that around Starbucks pricing. Surprisingly the pricing is not higher as I expect. The value is worth for a cup of coffee.

Experience Fresh Seafood at 6,000 Feet @ Burger & Lobster, Resorts World Genting, Malaysia

BY Cecilia Qianqian IN , , No comments

Burger and Nova Scotian lobster or call as Burger & Lobster has present their FIRST Asian chain in Resorts World Genting Malaysia. I'm very honour being as Malaysian and getting to experience their menu with 40 minutes drive without take a long flight to London.

I love the way they startup the restaurant idea with focusing only two main ingredient and actually make their own brilliant at F&B industry. What makes they winning in F&B industry was perfecting the food with unbeatable price.

Their menu is simple and clear as you can see only three (3) items available -- burger, lobster and lobster roll.

The B&L Burger RM138 / RM153 (served with chips and salad)
The 168g burgers patties are made purely with 100% Australian beef with no fillers, topped with lobster and served in a custom baked sesame seed brioche bun. But the original allow you to taste the authentic beefy with 224g and I have to emphasize the patty will satisfied your appetite on beef meat.

Chilli Lobster RM168 / RM173
This is specially created to cater who love spicy food like us and it's only available in Malaysia. I'm sure everyone will love on this sauce and it's good to dip with brioche slices.

The Original Wild Live Lobster RM153 (served with chips and salad)
I can said they are represent awesome value for a whole fresh lobster steamed to perfection, come up with a bowl of B&L's lemon and garlic butter dip, side of salad and chips. They have another option way for cooked -- in grilled, but I'm more recommend take steamed as you can taste the freshness of lobster itself.

Lobster Rolls
The Original RM138 / RM153 (served with chips and salad)
One of the popular items at B&L where big amount chunks of fresh lobster meat served with Japanese Mayonnaise their signature toasted brioche roll. They do prepared another two different choices - signature Chili sauce and seven spice sauce. If you love mixed herbs may pick seven spice for yourself.

If you are wondering how they can serve premium fresh lobster with affordable price, they are actually delivered weekly basis with certain volume lobster with six to seven hundred grams (600g-700g) each from Nova Scotia, Canada. I truly feel we are very lucky able to experience very fresh lobster in Malaysia.

Time Keeper RM21 / RM24
Last but not least, they have beautiful cocktails and other beverages as well. Time keeper seems become one of the famous drink as the outer look unique with a plastic bag hang on and it actually is a famous drink at most of mamak stall in Malaysia -- Teh O Limau Ice.

Can't wait to meet the wild live lobster from Nova Scotia? Head over to Burger Lobster at SkyAvenue and experience for yourself!

BY Cecilia Qianqian IN , No comments

I guess everyone might not very know about 40 Grams Bakery until you have see their little yellow colour truck, they are actually selling assorted buns and bakery was located at Section 17. Their little truck has remind me when I'm a child always buy my favorite cake and buns from this kind of truck. The truck always come on time at my place, the price is reasonable and tasty.

I know Section 17 have a lot of hidden gem of cafe and bakery where I stay around this area almost a year before. Even I have move somewhere so far, but I still come back here for my favorite dinner pick. I guess they are still very new as I haven't heard about them from everywhere, even internet. I visit them quite frequent so finally I decide to share with you all.

They are supply freshly baked buns and cake just like an ordinary bakery shop. Variety of buns you can choose for and now they having promotion buy 3 buns only RM5.

They do have cookies. Presentation is nice.

Banana Cake
This is my all time favorite and I love it so much. It is soft enough and not oily at all. As I have experienced that most of banana cake is oily and sometimes smell charred. This was really surprise me.

Polo Bun
Am I told you before I love polo bun? For me this is not really bad, but it good if consume on the same day as I found the bread quite hard to eat. :(

Garlic Bread
You may not believe, but the breads was still munching even I have it on next day! I can't resist to having it again. If you finding bakery that selling good bakery and reasonable price, you may try for this. You may check from their Facebook to update where their little truck been and buy from there if you feel their bakery shop far from your place.

Palmier Patisserie Cafe @ Mont Kiara Shoplex

BY Cecilia Qianqian IN , , No comments

I knew this places since year 2015 from a friend and told me they are serving Classic Australian savories and homemade tart, quite interesting for me and plan to visit them. Unfortunately I didn't and I just make it last month. And they are really surprising me.

Honestly I love the ambiance here, full with aroma of fresh pastry and coffee like I have no before! It was very cozy environment even the space is surprising small. Personally fall in love with this kind of pastries shop.

FYI, they are popular on freshly baked pastries and authentic Aussie meal. Yes they are! Because once I step into their cafe, I saw a lot of foods in cabinet familiar with New Zealand and I was so excited to pick whatever I want. At the end, I choose one main course with two dessert to feed my stomach.

Smoked Salmon Panini RM19.50
I love the salmon and salad, everything was fresh enough. This is lunch menu come with a drink (hot long black / hot tea / ice lemon tea / cold pressed juice). Of course you can upgrade your drink to other coffee beverages with RM3.50.

Long Black RM9.50
I used to drink long black so I pick one for myself. At the end I just realize their signature drink was Flat White! Oh no, well I will come back for this! 😏

Strawberry Mille Feuille RM11
You know girls always been cheated by pretty presentation, it can make my Instagram look good perhaps, so I having it. But the taste was just right and it not really impress me. By the way, the strawberry is sweet enough. I believe it is not easy to find out sweet strawberry instead of sour one 😑

Creme Brulee Tart RM10.50
Awww this is so lovely! I love the crunchy outside with nice balance of sweetness. They are serving best selling homemade sweetness pastries - Tarts and it was really so good! 😍

Signature Palmier Cookies RM25/container
This is one of the well known French cookies which pronounce as palm-yay. It is also known as butterfly cookies in other countries. It really awesome and I never expect Palmier is made from very simple pure ingredient and resulted to a crispy caramelized with a beautiful heart shape. It is available in plain and cinnamon.

My Verdict:
All hot savories are made with fine and fresh ingredients, you will know after you have them.

They are serve french pastries and cakes with finest quality. Honestly I love it!
The environment cozy enough and relax.
If you need something sweet with great coffee, you may pick this place.

Brewmen @ Solaris Mont Kiara

BY Cecilia Qianqian IN , 1 comment

After having breakfast at MOC, we decide come to here and have some try of their coffee. They having some good reviews from customer, you can see they are put more effort on their café design.

Grey colour walls are full of lovely graffiti, while the other side of white walls fully decorated with paper drink carrier / drink holder

Tables and chairs are made from wood, look like they are emphasize on recycle concept.

They are mainly on coffee instead like a café offering main dish. But they do have some savoury with not much selection.

Queen Bee RM11
This is more on cold dip coffee. The ice will melt slowly and let the coffee taste become dilute.  If you drink immediately once they serve to you, you will taste the coffee is rich and strong aroma. But no worries if the coffee has become dilute, the taste still nice to drink.

Fizzy Red
This is not a coffee, it more like soda. This is specially made for people who don’t or can’t drink coffee when customers visit in their café. Not too sweet but taste good.

I like this kind of coffee shop which only serving coffee instead usual café serving food as well. Sometimes you just need a cup of coffee and don’t really need food when step into café. Then, here would be one of your options to sit back and have your coffee at any time without feel awkward because of not ordering food.

Can’t drink coffee? No worries, they do serve other types of drinks you could enjoy it.

Ministry of Coffee @ Solaris Mont Kiara

BY Cecilia Qianqian IN , 14 comments

This day, I have made my date with a blogger friend to try out this café and having our breakfast at the same time. The coffee they are used to serve customer is worth to talk about, because they are using Doi Chaang Coffee and this is very famous in Vietnam. If you would like to try out this coffee, come here and have yourself will be right then.

If you have no idea what type of coffee you would like to choose from, you may refer on the board where they have explain the quantity of espresso and milk for every each coffee. Besides, they offer specialty coffee as well where you can choose from press, syphon, water drip and so on.

To make my breakfast look good, I choose Latte as my drink of the day. Latte more on steam milk instead coffee, but you still can taste the coffee beans from Doi Chaang.
Café Latte RM11

Their menu only show out what each breakfast have offer in a plate, without any specialty name.
Truffled mushroom, ricotta, parmesan, poached eggs, brioche toast RM22

Corn fritters, beef bacon, double sausages, roasted potatoes with salsa sour cream finish RM21

For who is coffee lover, you must fall in love with the coffee maker stuff likes coffee machine, coffee cup, or plunger etc. They do selling some coffee maker stuff, you may have a look while have your cup of coffee around here.

There is not much decoration on the wall, only full with vary art picture hang on the wall. This has make some good features on the dark wall, not too exaggeration or monotonous.

Those mugs installed light bulb arranged neatly to illuminate the café. Not too dazzling but creative, has become the special part of the café.
I like the design of their café, the glass door is match with dark lines, make it looks like British café instead of Korean café. If you wish to sit back and relax, you may come over here have a cup of coffee and read your book without any crowded.
